Days 2-4 depending on tides, currents and weather will be spent exploring beautiful Surge Narrows Marine Park. We will have full day and half day paddles learning about the rich marine life, looking for the local Harbour Seals, Stellar Sea Lions and Bald Eagles. At times on this trip we have been fortunate to paddle with Killer Whale and Humpback Whales. This the traditional lands of the Wee War Kai (Coast Salish) peoples and represented by harvesting areas and pictographs. Three full days gives us ample time to explore the islands, inlets and bays. Although wind and waves can come up, much of the paddling is in protected waters. Daily mileage can range from between 12-17km, most of that time spent meandering and learning about the local settler history and the flora and fauna of the area. Most days we will be packing a lunch so we can stay out the full day to explore but nutritious breakfasts and delicious dinner will be back at Discovery Island Lodge. Days will end with a wood fire sauna, cold plunge and relaxing with friends while sharing the days events.
